Whidbey Island Youth Center,
Oak Harbor, WA Puget Sound's Navy facilities see their share of active duty assignments and young families needing support from extended community while stationed far from home. The Whidbey Island site's rolling topography inspired its approach to natural lighting and environmentally sensible strategies for building, site, and construction. The 20,000 SF center provides care and nurture to school age children and young adults with a variety of educational, recreational, counseling, and athletic activities within the gymnasium, multipurpose rooms, computer labs, classrooms, game rooms, and an edgy teen center.
